We skipped ahead to Cuba because we did a Cuban potluck with our friends Colleen, Bill, Yelana and Dmitriy. It was so much fun! Rob and I made Cuban Sandwiches (with homemade Cuban bread) and Cuban Green Salad with Avocados. Colleen made Black Bean Soup and Herbed Cuban Black Bean Salad. Yelana made Empanadas and Pumpkin Flan. Colleen and Dmitriy kept everyone’s glasses full with Cuba Libres (rum and Coke). Everything was delicious! We hope to cook another country together again!
Cuba covers 44,827 square miles and is the largest of the Caribbean islands. It has more than 4,000 islands and cays which make up four archipelagos. The main archipelagos are the Jardines de la Reina, the Canarreos, the Sabana-Camagüey, and the Colorados.
No new US cars have been imported into Cuba since the 1960s when a U.S. embargo was implemented after the Cuban Revolution. Because of this, American cars have been re-built and repaired many times. Cuba is known for its beaches, cigars, coffee, rum made from sugar cane, the Salsa dance style and more. Spanish, French and US influenced architecture.
The capitol building in Havana was influenced by the U.S. capitol in Washington D.C.
